In part 25 of the Alumni Stories, we introduce Stephanie Düker. After completing her vocational training as a bank clerk at WGZ BANK AG, she studied Public Administration with a focus on European Studies at the University of Münster, including a year abroad at the University of Twente, and later earned a Master’s degree in Economics in Münster. She began her academic career as a research associate at the Institute of Cooperative Studies (IfG) before moving into cooperative consulting at Genoverband e.V. Today, she leads the educational project “Student Cooperatives – Sustainable Business, Acting in Solidarity,” supporting students in founding and running their own cooperatives based on cooperative principles.

In Teil 25 der Alumni Stories stellen wir Stephanie Düker vor. Nach ihrer Ausbildung zur Bankkauffrau bei der WGZ BANK AG studierte sie Public Administration mit Schwerpunkt European Studies an der Universität Münster, inklusive eines Auslandsjahres an der University of Twente, und absolvierte anschließend einen Master in Volkswirtschaftslehre in Münster. Ihre akademische Laufbahn führte sie als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an das Institut für Genossenschaftswesen (IfG), bevor sie in die genossenschaftliche Beratung beim Genoverband e.V. wechselte. Heute leitet sie dort das Bildungsprojekt „Schülergenossenschaften – nachhaltig wirtschaften – solidarisch handeln“ und begleitet Schülerinnen und Schüler dabei, eigene Schülerfirmen nach genossenschaftlichen Prinzipien zu gründen und zu führen.

The School of Business and Economics at the University of Münster is once again among the leading institutions for business and management in Germany. In the current “Best Business and Management Universities in Germany Ranking 2026” by Research.com, it achieved 5th place nationwide. Four professors — Jan vom Brocke, Jörg Becker, Thorsten Hennig-Thurau, and Manfred Krafft — are ranked among the “Leading Scientists.”

After more than ten years with the department, the School of Business & Economics has bid farewell to Junior Professor Dr. Gordon Jochem Klein. Since 2016, Gordon Klein has been affiliated with the Münster Center for Economic Policy, where he held the junior professorship in economics, with a focus on regulatory economics and industrial organization. We would like to thank him for his many years of dedication to research and teaching!

Wie kluges Management den Standard „Made in Germany“ zukunftsfähig macht, zeigt Prof. Dr. Nils Foege, Leiter des Instituts für Innovation, Strategie und Organisation, am 05.05.2026 bei der 2. Auflage unseres Veranstaltungsformats "Update Wirtschaft" anhand von aktueller Forschung und praktischen Beispielen bekannter Unternehmen.  Auch die persönlichen Erfahrungen des Publikums werden miteinbezogen. Wir freuen uns, wenn Sie dabei sind!

Once again this year, many prospective students visited the University of Münster’s main building to find out more about the four Master’s programmes offered by the School of Businesss and Economics. Prof. Dr Verena Rieger outlined the structure and practical relevance of the course content, Prof. Dr Thomas Apolte presented a highly topical research topic, and Dr Fumi Kurihara discussed one of the major collaborative projects. A week after the on-site information day, a digital edition of the event was held for the first time this year, with a programme designed specifically for students from abroad and more remote regions of Germany.

Auch in diesem Jahr kamen wieder viele Studieninteressierte ins Schloss der Universität Münster, um sich über die vier Masterstudiengänge der Wirtschaftwissenschaftlichen Fakultät zu informieren. Prof. Dr. Verena Rieger stellte Struktur und Praxisbezüge der Studieninhalte vor, Prof. Dr. Thomas Apolte ein hochaktuelles Forschungsthema und Dr. Fumi Kurihara eines der großen Kooperationsprojekte. Eine Woche nach dem Infotag vor Ort gab es in diesem Jahr erstmals eine digitale Edition der Veranstaltung, deren Programm insbesondere für Studierende aus dem Ausland und weiter entfernten Regionen Deutschlands konzipiert war.

At the start of the semester, Prof. Dr Thomas Langer, Dean of the School of Business and Economics, welcomed the new first-year students and extended a warm welcome to them at the University of Münster. The event, at which the Programme Management, AlumniUM and the Career Development Center, introduced themselves, marked the start of the orientation week, which was once again organised with great dedication by the WiWi Student Council this semester. Alongside the first-year students, around 30 incoming students also began their semester abroad in Münster.

Zum Semesterstart begrüßte Prof. Dr. Thomas Langer, Dekan der Wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Fakultät, die neuen Erstsemester und hieß sie herzlich an der Universität Münster willkommen. Die Veranstaltung, bei der sich u.a. auch das Programmmanagement, AlumniUM und das Career Development Center vorstellten, bildete den Auftakt zur Orientierungswoche, die auch in diesem Semester wieder mit viel Engagement von der Fachschaft WiWi organisiert wurde. Neben den Erstsemestern starteten auch rund 30 Incomings ihr Auslandssemester in Münster.
